Intro

Do you dream about living out your Star Wars fantasies on a real Starcruiser? Would your perfect vacation be helping your favorite Star Wars characters save the galaxy? Then you definitely need to check out the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser! This fully immersive, two-night adventure is literally a dream come true for Star Wars fans.

While I have not yet had the opportunity to check out this experience, it is on my Disney bucket list. I absolutely cannot wait to enjoy this amazing adventure one day!

Since I haven’t been on the Starcruiser yet and there is potential that the storylines will change, I wanted to provide a disclaimer with this post. This is just a basic overview of what can be experienced on this adventure and what I think would be the best way to pair it with a Walt Disney World vacation!

The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser does come with a pretty high price tag, so this will be a bit of a splurge vacation. We are also going to just go all in and make this a super splurge by staying at a Deluxe Resort before the Starcruiser! I know that many people are curious about if the price is worth it for the length of the experience. From everything I have seen and heard, I definitely think it would be worth it, especially for any die-hard Star Wars fans out there!

Breakdown

  • Theme: Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser
  • Length: One week
  • Age and Group: Family of Four
  • Spending: $$$$+

Check-In Day

To stick fairly close to our theme, you will be checking in to the Contemporary Resort for your pre-Starcruiser stay! You will arrive in the evening and get all settled in your room before dinner. You even opt for a Theme Park view room, so you can enjoy your mornings and evenings overlooking Magic Kingdom!

Food

View of Contemporary Resort from the Grand Floridian, across Bay Lake

After settling in, you head downstairs to grab an amazing dinner at Steakhouse 71. This new restaurant at the Contemporary is themed after a classic steakhouse, but with some subtle Disney touches.

Take your dessert to-go and eat it on your balcony while watching the fireworks from Magic Kingdom (another Disney bucket list item for me). This will be such a magical way to start your vacation!

Day 1: EPCOT

Your first Disney day starts with a classic ride on the Monorail. Staying at a Monorail resort makes it so easy to get around, especially to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.

You hop on the Monorail, which boards right inside your resort, and make your way to EPCOT!

Rides

You were lucky enough to get in the Virtual Queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. I really cannot talk about this ride enough! It is the newest ride at Disney World and truly an amazing experience that your whole family will love.

Next, you head over to the Land Pavilion to ride one of my favorites, Soarin’! Soarin’ is an adventure that takes you all over the world. It has amazing sights, sounds, and smells that you will never forget!

Lastly, you can’t miss Frozen Ever After. This ride, located in the Norway Pavilion is such a cute attraction that is a must for any Frozen fan.

Food

First things first, grab a quick breakfast at Contempo Cafe before jumping in line for the Monorail!

Space 220 Entrance sign

Lunch is at one of the newest restaurants with extremely hard to get reservations, Space 220. Take a space elevator 220 miles up into the sky, to dine with an amazing view of space. Think of this as a way to prepare for your journey on the Halcyon!

For dinner, if you are traveling during a festival, you will explore different food booths and everyone can enjoy whatever they would like for dinner. One of the best things about going to EPCOT during a festival, is that there are so many options, meaning there is something for everyone!

At the end of the night, you check out Harmonious, the nighttime show at EPCOT. This show is great to watch from any location, but I love finding a table along the water just across from the Canada Pavilion!

Day 2: Contemporary Resort & Animal Kingdom

Contemporary Resort

Spending time at the resorts at Disney World is one of my favorite things to do! As much as I love the parks, sometimes a resort break is a necessity.

This morning, you will take some time to relax and enjoy the Contemporary!

Food

Breakfast will be at one of the most popular Character Breakfast locations, Chef Mickey’s!

Lucky for you, Chef Mickey’s is located right in the main building of the Contemporary, so it is the perfect place to start your day. This classic breakfast spot includes a chance to meet Mickey and the rest of the Fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald).

After breakfast, head down to the Feature Pool to take advantage of the amazing amenities at the Contemporary! This pool is huge, located right on Bay Lake, and has a 17-foot water slide. There is also a quiet pool to relax, along with a hot tub and poolside bar!

Grab a quick bite at the Sand Bar, before going back up to your room to get ready for the parks.

Animal Kingdom

Following your relaxing morning, it is time for a wild afternoon and evening at Animal Kingdom! Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite parks, but you don’t always need a full day to be able to enjoy it all.

Rides

Floating Mountains in Pandora, in Animal Kingdom

To make the most of your half day at the park, you purchase Disney Genie+ and an Individual Lightning Lane for your Animal Kingdom day. I don’t always suggest purchasing this service for Animal Kingdom, however when you have less time at the park, I think it is really worth it!

You start your park day with your Individual Lightning Lane for Flight of Passage. Flight of Passage is a ride that I try to never miss and am always willing to purchase the Lightning Lane for if needed. It is such a cool ride and even the queue is beautiful!

Next, it is time to cool off on Kali River Rapids. This attraction is a must on a hot Florida day! The theming and storyline are also really interesting.

Lastly, try to get on Kilimanjaro Safari a little later in the evening. The animals are typically most active first thing in the morning and in the evening. Be sure to check when this attraction closes for the day, because that is sometimes before the park closes.

Food

Dinner tonight at Animal Kingdom will be at Yak and Yeti. This sit-down restaurant is located right by Expedition Everest and has a robust menu, including Asian inspired food and kid-friendly options.

Day 3: Magic Kingdom

Make the most of your last park day by Rope Dropping Magic Kingdom! Rope Dropping is when you arrive at the park before it opens. For Magic Kingdom, they will let you in ahead of the park open and you can enjoy Main Street with lower crowds! There are so many perks to staying on property, but one of the best perks is that you can enter the parks 30 minutes early each morning. While staying at the Contemporary, that is really no problem at all because it is just a quick walk or Monorail ride over to Magic Kingdom!

Rides

Splash Mountain

At Rope Drop, you head straight to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Hitting this ride first, is a pretty popular thing to do, but it will be worth it! Without purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane, this queue can get extremely long. So, riding it early is a must!

Next, get in line for Peter Pan’s Flight. This Opening Day attraction is a classic and one I try to ride every trip!

Lastly, make your way over to Frontierland for a ride on Splash Mountain. Even if water rides aren’t your favorite, you still have to check out this classic ride. Next year, this ride will be refurbished with a Princess and the Frog theme, which I cannot wait to see!

Food

Before Rope Dropping Seven Dwarfs, grab a snack and a coffee from Contemporary Grounds (the Joffrey’s location at the Contemporary) to get ready for the day!

Take a break from the parks and enjoy a quick Monorail ride over to the Polynesian for lunch. Grab a seat at Kona Cafe to try some Asian inspired entrees. I love exploring the Monorail resorts during lunch to beat the heat and the crowds at Magic Kingdom!

Liberty Tree Tavern in Liberty Square is where you are heading for dinner. Thanksgiving dinner is on the menu at Liberty Tree Tavern, where you will dine in one of the 6 historically themed rooms!

Close out the night with Enchantment and a leisurely walk back to the Contemporary.

Starcruiser Check-In Day

The day is finally here! It is time to head to the Starcruiser and start your Star Wars journey! Since you are staying at a Disney Resort prior to your stay on the Halcyon, you will be provided transportation that day.

You can’t check in right away, so you take the monorail over to the Grand Floridian for breakfast. Enjoy a refreshing breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe and take some time to walk around this beautiful resort!

Your transportation will meet you at your resort and take you right to the Starcruiser Terminal.

Boarding the Starcruiser

After checking in, you will get on a Launch Pod and be transported to the Halcyon! Your voyage will start with a Welcome and Ship Orientation, followed by some unique refreshments in the Atrium.

Rey and Chewbaca in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

The best part of the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience is that you are able to participate in the story! Each guest will receive a datapad where characters from the story can communicate with you about different missions, meetings, and adventures. Each person onboard will have a different experience and be able to interact in different ways!

For the rest of the afternoon, you check out your cabin and explore the ship. Enjoy some of the fun opportunities, such as Sabacc Lessons and Bridge Training! Sabacc is a card game that is unique to Star Wars and it is so fun to learn it surrounded by Star Wars characters. In Bridge Training, you will explore the bridge of the ship and learn how to navigate and defend the ship!

There is also shopping on the ship at the Chandrila Collection or the Terminal Shop. Didn’t pack any Star Wars attire? The Chandrila Collection has authentic, Star Wars inspired clothing that is perfect for your trip on the Halcyon!

Dinner

Your first night on the Starcruiser, you will experience fine dining with live music at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. Your dinner will include exclusive meals, drinks, and desserts that can only be found on board the Halcyon!

To end the night, you can enjoy some live entertainment in the Atrium and maybe take part in an adventure with the characters!

Starcruiser Day 2

Day Two begins with breakfast at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. Breakfast is served buffet style and includes fun favorites from all over the galaxy!

The main event for today, is an excursion to the planet Batuu. Since you are flying on the Starcruiser, you will not need to purchase your own ticket or make a park pass reservation. You also won’t need to worry about purchasing Lightning Lanes for the two rides in Galaxy’s Edge. You will be flown to Batuu on a special transport ship and will be able to enjoy the planet for a few hours.

Entrance to Rise of the Resistance

Batuu

Make your way to the newest ride on Batuu, Rise of the Resistance! This ride is like no other at the parks and you definitely won’t want to miss it while you are here. Next, you will have a chance to ride on the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, with Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

Spend the rest of your time on planet, exploring the rest of Batuu. Maybe grab a souvenir from the Black Spire Outpost or a drink from Oga’s Cantina! Before heading back to the Starcruiser, you will grab a quick lunch at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. Hop on the transport shuttle and you will be escorted back to the Halcyon.

Once you are back on the ship, there will be plenty of scheduled and unscheduled activities that you can take part in! You can head to Lightsaber Training, a Sabacc Tournament, or a Droid Racing Competition. Or, you can wait and see if any characters need your help for a special mission!

Dinner

Dinner tonight will be at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room once again, but with a different menu and theme. You will be treated to dishes from all over the galaxy for an educational and unique dining experience!

After dinner, you can continue to take part in fun and exciting adventures around the ship! Your adventure will come to an exciting conclusion tonight, with a big finale in the Atrium. You will definitely not want to miss this culmination of the Starcruiser story!

Star Cruiser Check-Out Day

After the quickest two day trip in the galaxy, it is sadly time to leave the Galactic Starcruiser and end your Star Wars adventure.

Blue Milk at Galaxy's Edge

Enjoy a quick breakfast in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room and make sure you savor one last glass of Blue Milk!

A launch pod will take you back to the main terminal of the Starcruiser, where you can take a shuttle back to the airport. Luckily, you already set up a pick up time with Mears Connect, for the easiest and most convenient way to get to Orlando International Airport.

What a once in a lifetime experience, to be able to have such an immersive and exciting Star Wars vacation! The magic of Disney is that your vacations are so much more than just a trip. These experiences will be something you and your kids remember forever. Adventures like the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser are why I love Disney so much!
